Project Description

Our favourite wineries

You don’t have to go far to find a wine that suits your palate. The McLaren Vale wine district offers more than 80 cellar doors and some of the very best are only minutes away from our B&B.

Below you find a list of some of our absolute favourites and why we recommend you to pay them a visit.

Dyson wines – Whether you have time to only visit one or if you plan a tour among all the 80+ cellar doors in the district, this is a must. Just off the Main South Rd you find this “one-man-shop” with the best wines this area can produce.

No fancy cellar door, but it’s so much more than meets the eye. Try the wines and you’ll know right away.

Willunga Creek Winery – Both the view from the veranda as well as the wines will take your breath away.

Try the Black Duck range, especially the Merlot. You probably won’t find a better anywhere else.

Battle of Bosworth – This quaint little cellar door offers a wide variety of organically grown whites and reds. In the very unlikely event you don’t fancy their wines, the stone cottage and every wine label an artwork in itself are good enough reasons for a visit.

Sellicks Hill Wines – If you’re looking for old school, rustic, traditional honest wines, this is the place to go.

Looking for a different white? Try the Greco, drink it cold in summer and tempered in winter.

If you dare, try the Diavolo, the Shiraz Cabernet blend. The risk is that you’ll be hooked and refuse to drink anything else.

Cradle of the Hills – established on ancient Kurrajong soils of McLaren Vale during the 1990’s for the production of premium Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

The winemaker, Paul, spent a few years in Europe and worked and learnt about the great wine regions and how the best wines are made. Mixing that experience and knowledge with grapes grown on his own farm is nothing but a success story. Try his handcrafted wines yourself!
